New Minnesota record pumpkin in 2014.

It's a Mouse "Bed & Breakfast"!

Found this fun surprise in the field in 2013. Some enterprising mice made their home in this unusual "conjoined" pumpkin. A home to keep them warm and dry, and when they were hungry, they could eat the house! See how they filled it with grass to make it cozy? We find a few of these "conjoined" pumpkins every year - two pumpkins growing out of one stem. But never one that had been turned into a rodent bed-and-breakfast!

Can you spot the white pumpkins in the field in the photo below?

Sorry, no more honey.

Vern has had to retire from the honey business. Thank you for your years of patronage!

BIG DAY FOR VERN!

A few years back, Vern and his brother Harlan (at far right) rebuilt a 1917 John Deere wagon. On August 29, 2012, Vern's friend Pam Hinze brought over her team of Percherons and hooked them up! Quite a crowd of neighbors gathered to see, and a few brave souls even took a ride in the wagon!

Here are some photos from Vern and Diane's 50th Anniversary open house on January 2, 2011. (They were married Dec. 31, 1960) Note 2 granddaughters modeling a bridesmaid dress and the flower girl dress from the wedding.

New World Record Weighs-In in Minnesota!!!

Stillwater, Minnesota, was the setting for a new world record pumpkin, Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010. Chris Stevens of New Richmond, Wiscsonsin, brought his baby to the Stillwater Harvest Fest, and it registered a new world record at 1,810.5 pounds.

What is it???!!!!

This is our "conjoined pumpkin." Don't know how it came to be, but it grew this way in the field. We saved it until December, and when it started to decay and there was nothing to lose, we cut it open. It looks like two separate pumpkins in many ways, but they are actually growing together.

BELOW: Vickie from St. Louis sent us this photo of a "conjoined pumpkin" she found in Missouri:

Update: Here's what Vickie found when she cut it open. She named the pumpkins "Larry and his other brother Daryl"
